LAS VEGAS, NV and BASKING RIDGE, N.J — From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. (HCTA) today announced that the company’s SuperJ™ Applications Environment takes advantage of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network. SuperJ serves as the unified applications deployment platform for multiple demonstrations of commercial-ready services being demonstrated in the Verizon Wireless booth at the show, including:

  • Complete home control services solution with a Control Point and Portal Server for home security and monitoring, automation and control, and energy management
  • A standalone LTE enabled camera that provides an out-of-box monitoring solution for remote security and monitoring functions

“Hitachi is excited to contribute to this important milestone in wireless broadband technology,” said David Foote, chief technology officer of HCTA. “Not only will the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network provide the highest wireless speeds available, but from the beginning Verizon Wireless and its partners will be able to offer an array of high-performance and useful applications such as home monitoring, energy management and health monitoring. The Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment unifies and simplifies the development, deployment and management of these applications in the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network environment.”

The Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment product family is the most complete offering based on open industry standards (OSGi) and provides leading advantages related to performance, efficiency optimization and integration with each specific service provider’s network and services.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced 4G network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless’ 3G network. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company’s entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.

The Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment has been used in collaboration with applications developers at Verizon Wireless’ LTE Innovation Center. The LTE Innovation Center, established in 2008, provides an environment for diverse companies to work together to develop innovative products that leverage 4G LTE technology.

The Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment will support highlighted applications from Jan. 6-9 in Verizon Wireless’ booth (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center) during CES.
