BASKING RIDGE, NJ — From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Verizon Wireless and Novatel Wireless today announced the MiFi® 4510L Intelligent Mobile Hotspot that takes advantage of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.

"We're very excited to be launching the first 4G LTE MiFi device with Verizon Wireless," said Peter Leparulo, chairman and chief executive officer of Novatel Wireless. "The 4G LTE MiFi device will unleash 4G on any existing Wi-Fi enabled device making it easy and economical for consumers to transition to 4G and take advantage of Verizon Wireless' new advanced network."

"With the popularity of the original Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot on the Verizon Wireless network, it made sense to introduce a Novatel Wireless device as the first 4G LTE MiFi," said Marni Walden, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. "Whether customers are experiencing 4G speeds on their Wi-Fi-capable netbooks, notebooks, tablets or smartphones, they can count on the reliability of both the MiFi 4510L and the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network."

The MiFi 4510L is small enough to fit in the palm of the hand and allows customers to create a personal Wi-Fi cloud capable of sharing the high-speed Internet connectivity of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE and 3G Mobile Broadband network with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

The 4G LTE MiFi 4510L is the next generation of the Novatel Wireless MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot portfolio, building on award winning innovation and design, proven performance and industry-leading flexibility, convenience and reliability. Consumers using laptops, tablets and gaming devices will immediately benefit from Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network with expected download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in the 4G Mobile Broadband coverage area. The 4G LTE MiFi 4510L is backward compatible with the Verizon Wireless 3G network and includes new features, such as integrated status display on the device showing battery life, roaming and connectivity information.

Also announced today by Verizon Wireless and Novatel Wireless is the 4G LTE USB551L modem. The USB551L modem harnesses the power of Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network to help enterprise, business and government customers make their workforces more productive, providing super-fast laptop connectivity.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced 4G network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network. Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company's entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.

The MiFi 4510L Intelligent Mobile Hotspot and USB551L modem will be highlighted from Jan. 6-9 in Verizon Wireless' booth (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center).
