COLUMBUS, OH — Thompson Hine LLP today announced the formation of a clerkship program to honor the memory of a prominent and respected firm partner. Sponsored by firm client Verizon Wireless, the Thomas E. Lodge Clerkship Program will provide eight-week summer clerkship opportunities in Columbus for second-year law students.
Lodge died in 2010 after a lengthy illness, but the connections he forged with clients and community leaders continue to resonate.
Having worked with Lodge for years, Steven E. Zipperstein, vice president of legal and external affairs for Verizon Wireless, proposed the clerkship idea to Thompson Hine. The collaboration of law firm and client to create the clerkship program is a fitting testament to Lodge’s dedication to his clients and his years of service to the firm.
“Tom was an outstanding lawyer and a role model, respected by all who knew him, thanks to his ironclad credibility and low-key, non-adversarial style,” says Zipperstein. “This clerkship program will help young lawyers learn from his example and is an appropriate tribute to Tom. We hope to continue the program for many years and help it evolve into a prestigious and competitive clerkship position.”
