BASKING RIDGE, NJ — April might be known for the rain, but the Verizon Wireless network is as bright as the sun, thanks to recent network enhancements across the country.

In the past two weeks, Verizon Wireless has showered customers with 3G network enhancements from coast-to-coast. The latest 3G network enhancements improve customers’ ability to browse the Internet, check the latest videos or chat with friends and family across the United States.

Just in time for the first pitch of the 2011 baseball season, new Verizon Wireless cell sites near popular major league ballparks were hitting homeruns and connecting customers in Chicago and Boston, where baseball fans can share photos or text score updates to friends while enjoying America’s favorite pastime.

Customers will also enjoy an enhanced network at popular tourist destinations across the United States. In the District of Columbia, Verizon Wireless has completed work that increases the 3G data handling capacity at cell sites throughout the nation’s capital. In Bainbridge Island, Wash., a new cell site makes it easier for travelers on the Seattle-Bremerton Ferry to connect with friends and family along Pleasant Beach, the south end of Bainbridge Island and through the Rich Passage of Puget Sound. Travelers heading to Hilo and the Waiakea Uka area on the island of Hawaii can now surf both waves and the Web, thanks to a new cell site activated southwest of the island.

In addition, Verizon Wireless customers in the following locations are also enjoying enhanced service, thanks to new cell sites announced over the past two weeks:

The Verizon Wireless 3G broadband network carries data sessions for customers using the latest wireless devices and smartphones, including the new iPhone 4 from Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless network enhancements are part of the company’s aggressive annual network capital investment program to stay ahead of the growing demand for voice and data services. The company has invested more than $65 billion in its nationwide network since it was formed – $6 billion on average every year.
