ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Wireless calling, text messaging and surfing the Web on the Verizon Wireless high-speed 3G network is now easier and faster in Rio Rancho, NM thanks to a new cell site added in the first quarter. The site expands 3G wireless coverage and capacity in the areas surrounding Iris Road NE and Paseo del Volcan NE in Rio Rancho.

The company’s ongoing network investment in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas now totals more than $375 million, including $70 million in 2010. Since the company was formed, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $65 billion – $6 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services.

Verizon Wireless also recently announced that it is bringing the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Albuquerque by the end of the year.
