TUCSON, AZ — Wireless calling, text messaging and surfing the Web on the Verizon Wireless high-speed 3G network is now easier and faster in the Tucson Foothills thanks to a new cell site added in the first quarter.

The site expands 3G wireless coverage and capacity north of Sunrise Drive along Craycroft Road in the Finnisterra neighborhood in the Tucson Foothills.

The company’s ongoing network investment in Arizona now totals more than $1 billion, including $138 million in 2010. Since the company was formed, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $65 billion – $6 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services.

Verizon Wireless also recently announced that it is bringing the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Tucson by the end of the year.
