KANSAS CITY, MO — Racing fans will be ready for speed this week at the Kansas Speedway and Verizon Wireless wants to make sure customers aren’t lagging behind. The company has deployed two temporary cell sites near Kansas Speedway, which double voice and data capacity at the speedway and the surrounding area through Sunday, June 5.

Designed for use at special events that demand additional network capacity, these temporary cell sites—coined “COLTS” and “COWS” (a.k.a. cell on light truck or cell on wheels)— can process thousands of calls and data transmissions each hour. This improved network coverage at the Kansas Speedway means Verizon Wireless customers working, residing or reveling in that area can trust they will be fully able to use their wireless phones to make calls, and send and receive email and text, picture and video messages.

History has proved wireless connectivity is in high demand during races at the Kansas Speedway. If any customers are asking “Can you hear me now?” it is surely due to loud crowds, roaring engines or music because Verizon Wireless has them covered.
