Background:
In June 2011, the state of North Dakota faced record flooding, with the city of Minot under siege from the Mouse River. The river reached an all-time high level, breaking a record that stood for 130 years, forcing the evacuation of more than 10,000 residents. The Verizon Wireless network team added 55% more capacity to area cell sites and also deployed a Cell on Wheels (COW) temporary cell site for additional capacity. The company deployed more than 125 wireless devices to first responders and the Verizon Foundation donated $15,000 to the Mid-Dakota Chapter of the American Red Cross to assist those impacted by the flooding.
