BOSTON, MA — As power outages and recovery efforts continue in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, corporately-owned Verizon Wireless retail stores in New England are helping area residents contact family, friends and loved ones. Residents without working cell phones can make free domestic calls from the company's pool of working handsets in its retail stores.  Additionally, stores are ready to assist customers who need to charge their cell phones and smartphones.
