PAMLICO COUNTY, NC — As residents of Pamlico County continue to deal with power outages and water advisories, organizations are pitching in to help. Alongside the Southeast Pamlico Volunteer Fire Department, who will be offering hot meals to residents, Verizon Wireless has moved their Wireless Experience Center (WEC) from New Bern, N.C. to Pamlico County for residents in need.

This thirty-five foot trailer comes equipped with fifty charging ports to enable community members to charge their wireless devices in the case of power outages or residential displacement. Nine sit-down stations are also available and equipped with internet connectivity and cell phones to enable residents of storm-stricken areas to call loved ones and take care of personal business. Two external LCD screens and satellite connections allow these centers to stream weather information and emergency response information to residents. The WEC is being moved to the Town and Country grocery store’s parking lot next to the fire department at 6389 Straight Road, Oriental, NC 28571.
