Verizon Wireless And Atlanta Falcons Team Up For The Eighth Consecutive Year To Sideline Domestic Violence

ATLANTA, GA — Verizon Wireless and the Atlanta Falcons are once again teaming up to help Georgia’s victims of domestic violence. For the eighth consecutive year, fans are encouraged to donate no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories to benefit victims of domestic violence through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program. Verizon Wireless volunteers will be at the HopeLine Tent on Falcons Landing collecting no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories from any before each of the Atlanta Falcons home football games.

“We have a great relationship with the Falcons and are excited to be teaming up with them again this season to support our HopeLine program. This year we have extended our collections from four games to all eight of the Falcons home and hope to collect even more phones to support domestic violence victims across the state,” said Jeff Mango, President – Georgia/Alabama Region for Verizon Wireless. “We are asking all Atlanta Falcons fans to dig through those junk drawers and clean out those closets to help us put an end to domestic violence here in Georgia and across the country.”

Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider are recycled, or refurbished and sold. Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds to award cash grants and to donate wireless phones with prepaid airtime to non-profit advocacy agencies and law enforcement agencies to aid survivors of domestic violence. Wireless phones and technology can serve as a vital link to emergency or support services in a time of crisis or as a reliable, safe connection to employers, family and friends as survivors rebuild their lives.

For more than a decade, Verizon Wireless has been committed to raising awareness of domestic violence and working to prevent it. Since its national launch in 2001 the HopeLine phone recycling and re-use program has collected more than 8 million phones. The phones collected were either recycled in an environmentally friendly way, with the proceeds benefiting domestic violence victims or were refurbished and sold for reuse. HopeLine has distributed more than 106,000 wireless phones with more than 319 million minutes of free wireless service to be used by victims of domestic violence and cash grants totaling more than $10 million to domestic violence agencies and organizations throughout the country.
