BEAVERTON, OR — Oregon Duck fans who want to share a celebration or highlight from their wireless devices will benefit from Verizon’s increased coverage. The company is deploying two temporary cell sites – or COWs – to Autzen Stadium for tonight’s game with the California Bears and throughout the 2011-12 football season.

A COW, or “cell on wheels,” is a fully functional, mobile cell site that enhances wireless capacity in a given area, thereby enabling thousands of extra customers in the area to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive emails and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

History has proved wireless connectivity is in high demand during Oregon Ducks football games as fans use their mobile phone cameras and camcorders to take, send and post photos and clips from the stadium, and also access the web for scores and highlights from other games.

Verizon Wireless’ network investment in the state of Oregon now exceeds $562 million, including $60 million in 2010.
