TAMPA, FL — Halloween brings out the ghouls, goblins – and camera-phones – in Florida. The evening of October 31 historically is one of the year’s busiest for photo and video messages sent on wireless networks, according to Verizon Wireless.

Millions of photos and videos of creepy, costumed creatures are expected to be sent on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE and 3G EVDO networks in Florida and across the nation on Halloween. Last year, more than five million multi-media and text messages were delivered via the Verizon Wireless network in Florida during its busiest hours on October 31.

Verizon Wireless operates the nation’s largest 4G LTE network and the largest, most reliable 3G network in the U.S.

“Halloween doesn’t scare us,” said Frank Wise, executive network director for Verizon Wireless. “It’s just a matter of investment and preparation, like having enough candy for the trick-or-treaters.”

In Florida, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $2.2 billion since 2000 to enhance wireless coverage and services for customers in the state. This includes launching its most advanced 4G LTE network in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Sarasota-Bradenton, Daytona Beach, Lakeland and Fort Myers in the past year. The company plans to upgrade 100 percent of its wireless network to 4G LTE by the end of 2013.
