Paper or digital? That is the new question Verizon Wireless customers are being asked when they visit a Verizon Wireless Communications Store. Now, when customers make a purchase, they are offered the option to replace their paper receipt with a digital one.

After a successful trial in more than 300 locations across the country, Verizon Wireless has rolled out the digital option at all of the company’s nearly 2,000 retail locations across the United States. Each customer who chooses not to receive a paper receipt receives an email notification of the transactions with a link to their receipt posted in their My Verizon account.

Digital receipts help reduce the amount of paper used and make it easier for customers to access their account information in one place.

Through My Verizon, customers can manage all aspects of their accounts – they can view and print their receipts and other documents such as rebate forms (when applicable) via the “My Documents and Receipts” feature. My Verizon also enables customers to view and pay bills, make changes to their accounts and sign up for paperless billing.

Digital receipts and billing aren’t the only ways Verizon Wireless is making a positive impact on the environment. Whether in-store or at home, customers can view the Verizon Wireless catalog digitally. Gone are the paper catalogs that used to be available in the company’s stores. Now, customers can access product and service information using in-store kiosks, tablets and netbooks or they can download Your Guide (text “GUIDE” to 1000) or view the online E-Guide from the comforts of their own homes.

What kind of impact does Verizon Wireless expect from these all-digital transactions? Through digital catalogs alone, Verizon Wireless estimates a yearly savings of almost 70,000 trees. Year after year, the stack of saved paper catalogues would be seven times taller than Mount Everest!
