HONOLULU, HI — Calling, downloading apps and surfing the web on the Verizon Wireless 3G network is now easier and faster for residents and travelers in Honolulu, thanks to three new cell sites:

  • Waikiki - This site improves 3G wireless capacity in the Waikiki area along Ala Wai Boulevard and Kalakaua Boulevard, Saratoga Road, Kalia Road, and Hobron Lane.
  • Honolulu – This site improves 3G wireless coverage and capacity in the Kapahulu, Kaimuki, and Date Street area.
  • McCully and Moiliili – This site improves 3G wireless coverage and capacity along Metcalf Street, Date Street, Isenberg Street, and Hauoli Street.

The company's ongoing network investment in Hawai‘i now totals more than $254 million, including $40 million in 2010. Since the company was formed, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $65 billion - $6 billion on average every year - to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services.

The network upgrade is part of the company’s ongoing investment to keep improving and strengthening the nation’s largest and most reliable 3G wireless network.
