Verizon Wireless Opens New Expanded Store In North Columbus, Georgia To Better Serve Area Customers

COLUMBUS, GA — To better serve its customers, Verizon Wireless has relocated its North Columbus retail store to a new, greatly expanded, state-of-the-art building at 6783 Veterans Pkwy in Columbus. The new store, one of the largest in Georgia and also the first in the state to achieve LEED certification, offers consumers a more high-tech, hands-on experience, providing them with the latest and most innovative products and services. The store is open for business and will host a ribbon cutting with the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m., followed by an Open House for area businesses and consumers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where leading smartphone and tablet vendors will be present to answer questions and discuss their latest products.

The North Columbus Verizon Wireless store features the company’s new open floor plan concept that removes the walls between the service area and sales floor, making the entire store one department designed to streamline the sales process and enhance the customer experience. The 4,000-square-foot store showcases a highly interactive retail concept, and offers consumers a more high tech, hands-on experience, providing them with the latest and most innovative products and services. Among the new store’s features are:

  • An open Demo Zone where customer interaction is guided by a product-savvy sales staff, and where customers can get a sense of the look and feel of a broad range of equipment and services.
  • Oversized high-definition plasma screens showcasing the latest wireless multimedia applications such as V CAST and Get It Now®.
  • More than 65 working models of smartphones, tablets, netbooks and other devices for customers to handle and test.
  • Tablet check-in that enables customers to electronically keep their place in line while browsing the store. When they talk with a representative their account background and reason for visiting the store will already be keyed up on the customer-service computer.
  • Bill Payment Kiosks that enables customers to pay their bills quickly and easily using checks, cash or credit/debit cards.
  • Two consultations tables for one-on-one demos and device training sessions.

Verizon Goes Green with New Eco-Friendly Store
The North Columbus store achieved its LEED certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) using the LEED Commercial Interiors rating system. To qualify, the store diverted 24 tons of waste from landfills and used 20 percent (by cost) of recycled content for materials during construction. The store is also equipped with 86 percent of Energy Star certified equipment that will help save an average of 27,800 gallons of water per year and 12,400 k/Wh of energy per year from lighting. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.

Ribbon Cutting to Include Donation to Local Domestic Violence Shelter
In honor of the grand opening of the North Columbus store, Verizon Wireless will present a $1,000 HopeLineSM grant to Hope Harbour at the ceremony. Hope Harbour is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter and services for victims of domestic violence in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit. HopeLine is Verizon Wireless’ exclusive nationwide phone recycling program that distributes previously owned wireless phones to victims of domestic violence, supports non-profit domestic violence advocacy groups and provides an environmentally safe method for recycling phones.

Additional grand opening events for the Columbus community that are taking place throughout the weekend of Feb. 24 - 26 include a live radio remote, giveaways and special offers on select Android devices and accessories.
