Tax time can be a scary time for just about anyone. Verizon Wireless can help make tax time a relatively harmless point on your calendar with a plethora of easy-to-use tax applications.

In a quick visit to your favorite app store, you will find a number of well-designed and highly-rated apps. Here are a few of the more useful apps to try. Each app is free to download and available for iOS and Android users (data rates may apply for download/use).

TurboTax Snap Tax: Have just one W2 to be reviewed? No dependents or children? Are you a renter and make less than $100,000? Sure, these sound like a lot of qualifiers, but they cover a lot of people. If you can answer “yes” to those questions, TurboTax Snap Tax is for you! You simply take a picture of your W2, almost as if it was a QR Code, answer a few simple questions, review the accumulated information and then safely and securely file your taxes. Three simple steps and a $19.99 fee get you filed quickly and on to better things.

H&R Block Mobile: H&R Block is everywhere this time of year – including on your smartphone. With its app, you can tap into a vast resource of information for answers to some of the most commonly asked questions, get a handle on what you need to pull together for your taxes and understand the rebate process.

IRS2GO: Knowledge is king, right? Well this app gives you all of the knowledge of the IRS. While the TurboTax Snap Tax app makes it easy for people who don’t have a mortgage, children, multiple salaries and more variables, IRS2GO is a tremendous resource to walk you through everything you‘ll need to know. You can watch specially created videos, sign up for helpful hints, and feel safe in the knowledge that it all comes right from Uncle Sam.

TaxCaster: Let’s be honest, we’re all rooting for a nice return to catch up on bills, buy a special treat or dote on our family. With TaxCaster, you input some basic financial and personal information and watch the meter – hopefully – creep from red to green. It’ll show you how much you can expect to get back from the government for your tax refund, or how much you could owe.

My TaxRefund: We’ve looked at apps that do your taxes, answer your questions, give you an idea of how much you’ll owe or get back… but what about the fingers-crossed moment of finding out whether your return has been accepted or rejected? My TaxRefund will track your e-filed tax returns, give you a confirmation of its receipt, acceptance or rejection, and let you know when your refund will arrive.

Thanks to smartphones, we can do just about anything quickly and easily, right in the palm of our hands. And thanks to these many tax apps, we can reduce the stress of taxes and even have a little fun with them. So take that, tax man!
