DOTHAN, AL — On March 15, Verizon Wireless customers in Dothan and Enterprise, Ala., can take advantage of Verizon Wireless’ 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, the nation’s largest 4G LTE network. With Verizon’s 4G LTE network, customers can enjoy the best experience in wireless data usage when they stream video, share music and photos, download files, and surf the Web with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

On Thursday, in addition to Dothan and Enterprise, the company’s 4G LTE network is available to customers in Columbia, Cottonwood, Daleville, Elba, Geneva, Hartford, Headland, New Brockton, Ozark, Samson and Slocomb. Major roads and highways covered include US 231, from Dothan south to the Florida state line and north to the to the Pike county line; US 84, from Dothan west through Enterprise and into Elba and east through Ashford to the Georgia state line; US 431 north from Dothan to Headland; State Route 52 from Geneva east through Dothan extending to Columbia; Ross Clark Circle around Dothan; and Boll Weevil Circle around Enterprise.

“Introducing our 4G LTE network to Dothan and Enterprise will enable residents, small businesses and local government to take advantage of the speed and connectivity offered by 4G LTE technology,” said Jonathan LeCompte, president of Verizon Wireless’ Georgia/Alabama Region. “We will continue pushing the boundaries with our 4G LTE network in 2012 to bring our customers the best products and services.”

4G LTE Coverage and Speed

In addition to launching its network in Dothan and Enterprise on March 15, the company is also launching its 4G LTE network in Naples, Fla.; Greenville, N.C.; Altus and Durant, Okla.; and Longview/Marshall, Texas and expanding its network in Washington, D.C.; Elkhart, Ind.; Baltimore, Md.; Columbus, Miss.; Northern N.J.; Wilmington, N.C.; Duncan, Okla.; Allentown/Bethlehem, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Scranton /Wilkes Barre, Pa.; Hilton Head, S.C.; Cleveland, Tenn.; Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; and Kenosha, Madison and Milwaukee, Wis. for a total of 203 markets and more than 200 million people covered by Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast. Verizon Wireless’ 3G network is the most reliable high-speed data network in the country and allows customers in 3G coverage areas who purchase 4G LTE devices today to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds when the faster network becomes available in their area, or when they travel to areas already covered by 4G LTE.
