DENVER, CO — The Denver Broncos are teaming up with Verizon Wireless to be one of the principal NFL franchises to fully integrate wireless tablet technology into both its business and football operations. The Broncos will incorporate mobile tablet technology into business development opportunities, team playbooks, fan interaction, client and season ticketholder presentations, promotional programs and other applications.

The team made the announcement at Dove Valley while unveiling the new iPad® with Wi-Fi+4G LTE tablet including the PlayerLync app powered by the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. The Broncos recently completed a multi-year deal with Verizon Wireless for 120 new iPads all powered by 4G LTE technology.

Digital Innovation

The team will use the tablets throughout Sports Authority Field at Mile High on game days as well as all road trips during the 2012 season. The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network covers more than two-thirds of the U.S. population in 230 markets across the United States, including all NFL team cities.

Broncos head coach John Fox and his staff will use the tablets in virtually all aspects of the team’s preparations, both on and off the field. Each player will receive a tablet which includes a custom Broncos playbook on the PlayerLync application which can be updated in real time – securely and remotely over Verizon’s always-on 4G LTE network.

Travel itineraries, scouting reports for upcoming opponents and video from team practices and games can be personalized for each player and pushed to their individual tablets. Should a tablet be lost or stolen, all content can be remotely erased, making it more secure than a hard-copy playbook.

In addition, the Broncos will use the tablets to interact with the team’s digital fans through social media and other team promotions.

Green Solution

The new iPad provides the team an environmentally-friendly way of communicating while eliminating volumes of paper communications and hard-copy playbooks.

“The Denver Broncos have always placed a high priority on remaining at the forefront of digital innovation within the sports industry,” said Derek Thomas, Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Denver Broncos. “Utilizing the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network to integrate the new iPad into our daily operations is yet another great digital milestone for the Broncos.”

“The Broncos’ creativity and leadership, together with the strength of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network and the capabilities of the new iPad will no doubt be a winning combination,” said Melanie Braidich, Verizon Wireless regional president. “Not only will the Broncos be untethered from their traditional hard-copy playbook but the new iPad will also provide the team with a truly mobile, multi-media experience over Verizon’s extensive 4G LTE network.”
