BASKING RIDGE, NJ and NEW YORK — While reviewing a thick legal document in her office one night at 2:00 a.m., corporate attorney YiShaun Yang had an epiphany – she realized the desire to be her own boss and the need to contribute to society in her own way.  At that moment, a metamorphosis occurred and a new entrepreneur was born.

Always interested in the well-being of children, YiShaun launched AdoraPet, a book company for kids between the ages of 2 and 6.  The company’s mantra is: “Inspiring Kids to Read, Play, Dream & Discover.”

Yang spent time creating and shaping the characters – boy and girl puppies, Pico and Pima, who love going on adventures and sharing their discoveries with young readers.  Pico and Pima continually pique children’s natural curiosity, imagination and sense of adventure.  The series of eight adventure books received recognition from Creative Child Magazine as Best Picture Book Series for 2011.

“My goal is two-fold: to promote literacy and to show kids of all types of backgrounds discovering and learning together,” said Yang.

The life of an entrepreneur is always on the go.  Beyond the creative aspect of running a children’s book company, technology also plays a pivotal role for Yang, who candidly admits that, without her smartphone, she wouldn’t be able to be competitive in this tough field.  Whether it’s meeting with schools, illustrators, printers and customers; going to trade shows; or doing something at a minute’s notice, Yang relies on her 4G LTE DROID BIONIC by Motorola to get the job done.

“I do everything with my smartphone, and I mean – everything,” said Yang.  “I have my email and all data synched to my device.  All of my business contacts, which I am in perpetual communication with, are easy to access.”

Yang felt she took her business to the next level when she went to 4G LTE.  “As an entrepreneur, I need to be agile and the DROID BIONIC is everything I need in one spot.  Living in New York City, I often have to drive to faraway places to talk to various people and decision-makers to showcase my books.  The GPS feature with Google Maps is extremely reliable and has gotten me to my destinations quickly.”

A short while after she purchased her smartphone, Yang was in a Verizon Wireless Communications Store and something caught her eye: Intuit GoPayment.  Curious about this solution, she went online on her DROID BIONIC while in the store, quickly did her research using 4G LTE, and was sold on the concept.  Yang found herself in the same position as many other entrepreneurs – she had great items to offer, but not all of her customers carried cash.

GoPayment makes it easier and more affordable for small businesses to process credit cards and for anyone who sells products or services to accept credit card payments wirelessly.  The card reader simply plugs into the audio jack of a supported smartphone or tablet.  Credit and debit cards can be swiped through the card reader or entered into the GoPayment app manually.  The transaction is processed immediately, and funds are automatically deposited into a user’s bank account within a few business days.

“I decided I wanted to offer great customer service and an important part of that is being able to accept the type of payment a customer wants to provide,” said Yang.  “GoPayment helped convert several sales that were on the bubble.  At one book fair, a customer liked the Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy series, and wanted to buy the full set of eight.  However, she did not have enough cash.  I told her I take credit cards, and she wound up buying five full sets.  People like having the flexibility to purchase with credit cards, so this has amped my business.”

Entrepreneurs have a lot of responsibilities to juggle between their business and personal lives and must always be ready to adapt to new trends and technology quickly.  Yang believes that it’s best to keep her work digital and be open to looking at all of the technologies available.

“The combination of devices, products and services on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network truly makes the difference in my business.  I can conduct business much more easily, knowing that, no matter where I am, my smartphone is my guide, cash register and office resource,” said Yang.

Yang, Pima and Pico are all taking part in life’s adventures and each of them are successfully communicating their experiences to others, some on the pages, and some on 4G LTE.
