ALPHARETTA, GA — Verizon Wireless, which operates the nation’s largest 4G LTE network and largest, most reliable 3G network, presented a total amount of $12,000 to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at the eighth annual Verizon Wireless Network of Champions Golf Tournament on Monday, June 18 at The River Club in Suwanee.

Verizon Wireless and the Atlanta Falcons presented CHOA with a check in the amount of $12,000 to benefit the organization, which is committed to enhancing the lives of children through excellence in patient care, research and education. The money raised for CHOA was through a number of activities at the golf event including a silent auction and mulligan sales.

“This is our eighth year hosting the Network of Champions Golf Tournament along with the Atlanta Falcons and it’s always an enjoyable, rewarding experience. A special thanks to the Falcons, Verizon Wireless employees and tournament attendees who donated money to support the incredible work that Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta does every day,” said Jonathan LeCompte, president for the Georgia/Alabama Region of Verizon Wireless. “As one of the largest clinical care providers for children in the country, the care that Children’s Healthcare provides to children in Atlanta and across the southeast is unprecedented and it is great to be able to give something back to them to show our appreciation.”

At this annual celebrity event, hosted by Verizon Wireless and the Atlanta Falcons, attendees were able to the meet the Atlanta Falcons leadership including Head Coach Mike Smith, General Manager Thomas Dimitroff, new Offensive Coordinator Dirk Koetter and current and former players such as Matt Ryan, Chris Redman, John Parker Wilson, Matt Bryant, Lofa Tatupu, Joe Hawley, Rodney Harrison, Dave Archer, Alge Crumpler and more.

Attendees of the golf tournament were invited to participate in a silent auction, with all proceeds benefitting CHOA, which featured items such as an autographed Matt Ryan jersey, passes for the Georgia Aquarium’s Journey with the Gentle Giants, Tim Hudson signed Braves jersey, Nike golf bag with Nike driver and wedge and much more.

“This is an event that our organization and I look forward to every year. It’s always a great time to take a break to come out to play golf and show our support for an admirable organization such as Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta,” said Head Coach Mike Smith of the Atlanta Falcons. “We have a long-standing relationship with Verizon Wireless and always looking for ways to team up with them and give back to the community.”
