RUSSELLVILLE, AR — Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network has turned up its 4G LTE network in the greater Russellville area, enabling Verizon Wireless customers to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds in the Pope County area.

Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is now available in the following Arkansas River Valley communities:

  • Russellville
  • Clarksville
  • Dardanelle
  • London
  • Atkins
  • Pottsville
  • Lamar

With the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, customers can enjoy the best wireless experience when they stream video, share music and photos, download files and surf the Web, with speeds up to 10 times faster than other wireless networks.

In addition to the launch in Arkansas River Valley, Verizon Wireless has also turned up its 4G LTE network in Camden, El Dorado, Magnolia and Vilonia.  The company currently operates is 4G LTE wireless network in more than 300 markets nationwide, serving more than two-thirds of the U.S. population.

“We’re aggressively working to cover every community across Arkansas with our incredibly fast 4G LTE network,” said Leo Perreault, executive director of network for the South Central Region of Verizon Wireless.  “The addition of 4G LTE to the Russellville and Arkansas Tech communities demonstrates our commitment to provide Arkansans with the highest quality wireless communications possible.  Our network allows customers to download music or upload photos faster than ever before, broadening their communications opportunities with family, friends and colleagues.”

Posting an investment of $98 million in its wireless broadband and voice networks in Arkansas in 2011, Verizon Wireless will continue to expand its 4G LTE network across the state.  By the end of 2013, all of the company’s 3G network in Arkansas will also include 4G LTE.

4G LTE Coverage and Speed

In real-world, fully-loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.  Verizon Wireless’ 3G network is the most reliable high-speed data network in the country and allows customers in 3G coverage areas who purchase 4G LTE devices today to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds when the faster network becomes available in their area, or when they travel to areas already covered by 4G LTE.
