READING, PA — Verizon Wireless customers will be able to experience the blazing fast speeds and capabilities of the company’s 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Reading, Pa., when the service launches Thursday, August 16.  The introduction of the company’s 4G LTE network is part of Verizon Wireless’ announcement today introducing its 4G LTE network in 34 new markets and expansion in 38 other markets.  The nation’s largest 4G LTE network will be available in a total of 371 markets and cover more than 75 percent of the U.S. population, including major metropolitan areas, small cities and many suburbs.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is currently available throughout Greater Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and large portions of southern New Jersey and Delaware.  With the launch, residents in areas such as the City of Reading, Muhlenberg Township and the Boroughs of Wyomissing and Shillington will have access to the nation’s fastest 4G network.

“Our growing 4G LTE network now covers more than 70 percent of the Philadelphia Region and enables customers to use their 4G LTE devices to stay in touch by instantly sharing, receiving and consuming content, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than before,” said  Regional President Mario Turco.  “We will continue to expand and enhance our 4G LTE network in the region and across the country to provide our customers with the best wireless experience possible.”

4G LTE Devices, Solutions and Plans

Verizon Wireless customers can choose from the largest selection of 4G LTE devices to experience America’s fastest 4G network.  Devices include a wide variety of tablets, mobile hotspots  and other devices, including the latest smartphones:  Samsung Galaxy S® III, DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC and Pantech Marauder.  Details can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/4GLTE. Information on plans and pricing for consumers and businesses is available at www.verizonwireless.com/plans.

Additionally, customers in areas where Internet options are limited or unavailable, can take advantage of HomeFusion Broadband, which leverages the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network to deliver high-speed, in-home Internet access.

Verizon Wireless also offers a variety of smart accessories that customers can use with their 4G LTE devices.  These accessories include the MotoACTV Bluetooth Smart Health Tracker & Music Player, the FitBit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker and the Helo TC Touch Controlled Helicopter, among others.  A full list of smart accessories can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/smartaccessories.

4G LTE Coverage and Speed

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.  Verizon Wireless’ 3G network is the most reliable high-speed data network in the country and allows customers in 3G coverage areas who purchase 4G LTE devices today to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds when the faster network becomes available in their area, or when they travel to areas already covered by 4G LTE.  For more information about Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network, visit www.verizonwireless.com/lte.
