FARGO, ND — When it comes to network quality in the West Region, Verizon Wireless ranks highest among U.S. wireless providers, according to the latest J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study℠, Volume 2.  The West Region includes North Dakota and 15 other states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

The J.D. Power and Associates study measured network quality among all U.S. wireless service providers based on factors that impact overall carrier performance.  Approximately 27,000 wireless subscribers were surveyed by J.D. Power and Associates between January and June 2012 about their experiences with wireless voice, text messaging and data usage.  Based on their responses, Verizon Wireless performed significantly above the industry average in all six regions and ranked highest among national wireless companies in five regions, including the West Region.

“Today’s smartphones and tablets require a powerful network in order to make the most of all the features and functionality customers have come to expect from their wireless devices,” said Seamus Hyland, president-Great Plains Region, Verizon Wireless.  “Verizon Wireless is firmly committed to providing customers in North Dakota with the very best wireless experience, expanding, enhancing and maintaining our nationwide industry-leading wireless voice and data network.”

Through June 30 of this year, Verizon Wireless has invested $21.3 million in network improvements in North Dakota.  From 2001 through mid-year, Verizon Wireless invested $227.3 million in the state, including launching its 4G LTE network in Fargo, Dickinson and Williston.  As of August 16 the 4G LTE network also expanded to Bismarck, Grand Forks and Minot.

Verizon Wireless invests on average more than $6 billion annually in its network to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company’s voice and data services.  The company’s ongoing network investment totals more than $70 billion nationally since it was formed, which includes the introduction and continuous expansion of 4G LTE.

Verizon Wireless leads the way with the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, covering more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and supporting a wide array of 4G LTE-enabled devices.  For more information about Verizon Wireless, visit www.verizonwireless.com or follow VZWKaren on Twitter at http://twitter.com/VZWkaren.
