TALLAHASSEE, FL — More wireless consumers in communities across the Tallahassee area will have access to the nation’s fastest 4G wireless network, when Verizon Wireless expands its most advanced 4G LTE (Fourth Generation/Long-Term Evolution) technology in local areas on September 20.
Verizon is adding 4G LTE capabilities to dozens of new cell sites throughout Leon County to bring and/or boost 4G LTE capacity. New areas include: Centerville, Midway, Killaearn Lakes, Summerbrook, Golden Eagle, Oak Valley, Winwood Hills, The Vineyards and Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area.
Verizon Wireless launched 4G LTE in the core areas of Tallahassee and all major Florida markets in 2010 and 2011. Verizon Wireless is the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, available to more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and more than 370 markets across the country. The rapid rollout of 4G LTE across Verizon’s entire network footprint is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2013.
“Tallahassee is a dynamic market with tech-savvy consumers, as well as the thousands of business, governmental and university customers,” said Frank Wise, network executive director for the Verizon Wireless Florida region. “We’re rolling out 4G LTE quickly here to remain far ahead of our competitors and to provide customers with the most technologically advanced wireless devices and services.”
Verizon Wireless offers a large variety of 4G LTE devices which range from tablets and mobile hotspots to the latest smartphones. The newest 4G LTE devices include the new 4G LTE Apple iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S® III and the DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC and many more.
With these devices, on-the-go customers can watch movies, television shows and other video content with applications like viewdini. Viewdini brings the power of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network to the screen by streamlining access to videos from a wide range of content providers, including cable operators, websites and other popular video sources.
Customers also can take advantage of 4G LTE-optimized applications like Color to share live video broadcasts of life’s special moments with their Facebook® friends. Sharing live video with audio is an exclusive feature of the Color app on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
HomeFusion Broadband is another solution made possible by the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. HomeFusion Broadband delivers high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.
