MOREHEAD CITY, NC — Verizon Wireless customers in Morehead City, N.C. will now be able to experience wireless speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G with America’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The company has announced it will activate the high-speed wireless network in Morehead City with coverage extending throughout Carteret County on Sept. 20.

“Our 4G LTE network in and around Morehead City provides best-in-class wireless speed and reliability for surfing the Web, downloading files, streaming music and video, and staying in touch with family and friends,” said Jerry Fountain, president for Verizon Wireless’ Carolinas/Tenneessee region. “We understand that the way people communicate and do business is constantly evolving, and we’re committed to offering innovative solutions for wireless communication to local businesses, schools and families.”

Verizon Wireless customers can choose from a large selection of 4G LTE smartphones, tablets, aircards and accessories, including the recently introdcued DROID RAZR M and the popular Samsung Galaxy S III. The availability of 4G LTE service also means residents of Morehead City and Carteret County now have access to HomeFusion, a residential broadband solution made possible by the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. Using 4G LTE, HomeFusion delivers high-speed, in-home Internet access, particularly where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.

Verizon Wireless is the only carrier in Morehead City offering residents and visitors 4G LTE service, which is also currently available in North Carolina in Burlington, Charlotte, Durham, Fayetteville, Goldsboro, Greensboro, Greenville, Hickory, High Point, Jacksonville, Kinston, Lumberton, New Bern, Raleigh, Roanoke Rapids, Rocky Mount, Washington, Wilmington, Wilson and Winston Salem.

Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is the largest in the nation, covering more than 75 percent of the U.S. population in more than 370 markets across the United States. In real-world, fully loaded network environments, customers using Verizon’s 4G LTE should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
