Halloween is a favorite holiday for kids of all ages, but for parents, safety can be a big concern during this fun season. When it comes to trick-or-treating, your smartphone has all the tools you need to have the best Halloween experience possible.

Before your older kids head out searching for candy, there a few apps that can help provide peace of mind for parents. With Family Locator from Verizon Wireless, parents can enjoy the comfort of knowing where their trick-or-treaters are by using this service from their PC, mobile phone or tablet. And, if you are trick-or-treating with your children, or if they have their own smartphone, download a Flashlight app to make your evening walk a little brighter.

Once you’re back at home, there are plenty of apps that can add to the Halloween fun. The Spooky Camera app that lets you add Halloween haunts to your mobile snapshots with fun frames, masks, sunglasses and costumes. When it’s time to make the perfect Jack-O-Lantern, the Carve-A-Pumpkin from Parents Magazine lets you pick your design, carve freehand or with stencils, pick a background and share with your friends.

And for those looking for a little more fright in their Halloween adventure, the Ghost Radar app claims it can detect paranormal activities using various sensors on the device to add an extra scare.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!
