OWENSBORO, KY — Verizon Wireless today announced at MobileCON 2012 that customers in most of Daviess County will be able to experience the speed and capabilities offered through the innovative products and solutions available on its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, when the company introduces the service on Oct. 18.

With the new and expanded areas, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available in 417 markets across the United States, surpassing its goal to cover 400 markets by the end of 2012. The soon-to-be-expanded coverage area includes Owensboro, Philpot and Utica.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network offers more coverage than all U.S. wireless providers combined and is the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.  On Thursday, Oct. 18, customers who visit or live in Daviess County will be able to surf the Web, stream music and video, and stay in touch with family, friends and colleagues, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G.  For businesses using the network, the increasing spread of broadband connectivity provides the most sophisticated wireless capabilities for economic advancement.

“People across Kentucky are increasingly relying on tablets, smartphones and apps to stay organized, connected and entertained,” said John Granby, president–Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. “Our investment in Kentucky has kept us ahead of these consumer trends and underscores our belief that 4G LTE delivers the best value to customers by maximizing the performance of their wireless devices.”

Verizon Wireless customers can also take advantage of HomeFusion℠ Broadband, a solution that leverages the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network to deliver high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly in areas where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE customers in the coverage area should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits (Mbps) per second on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
