VINCENNES, IN — Vincennes residents soon will have a new option for high-speed, in-home broadband service when Verizon Wireless launches its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in the area Thursday, October 18.

HomeFusion Broadbandoffers customers a reliable alternative for residential broadband, especially in areas of Indiana with limited broadband choices. The new service option provides connectivity for a wide range of devices, including computers and gaming consoles, using the Verizon 4G LTE network.

Along with Vincennes and Vincennes University, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available in 417 total markets across the United States October 18, surpassing a company goal to cover 400 markets by the end of 2012.

The company also announced that 4G LTE service will be available in Washington, Ind., by the end of the year.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network offers more coverage than all U.S. wireless providers combined and is the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.  With 4G LTE, businesses and residences in Vincennes will be able to surf the Web, stream music and video, and stay in touch with family, friends and colleagues, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE customers in the coverage area should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits (Mbps) per second on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

For businesses using the network, the increasing spread of broadband connectivity also provides the most sophisticated wireless capabilities for local and regional economic growth.

“Verizon continues to follow through on its commitment to deliver reliable, high-speed Internet access to business and residential consumers in small towns and big cities,” said John Granby, president–Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. “Our network investment in Indiana has kept us ahead of consumer and business demand for both the best voice and data services.”
