JACKSONVILLE, FL — Thousands of additional consumers and businesses in Jacksonville soon will have access to the nation’s fastest  4G wireless network, when Verizon Wireless expands its most advanced  4G LTE (Fourth Generation/Long-Term Evolution) technology here later this month.

Verizon is adding 4G LTE capabilities to several dozen new cell sites throughout Duval County and surrounding regions to bring and/or boost the service in various communities.

Verizon Wireless launched 4G LTE in the core areas of Jacksonville and numerous other large Florida markets beginning in 2010, and has been rapidly expanding the service ever since.

Verizon Wireless is the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, offering more coverage than all other U.S. wireless providers combined.  By the end of October, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available in 417 markets across the country, clearly surpassing the company’s goal to cover 400 markets by the end of 2012.

“Our aggressive 4G LTE deployment has provided more and more Verizon customers here in Jacksonville and around the nation with the most advanced communication technology and the best wireless high-speed data experience possible,” said Pam Tope, Florida region president of Verizon Wireless.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should expect to experience average data rates of 5 to12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

Verizon Wireless customers can choose from the largest selection of 4G LTE devices and solutions to experience the nation’s fastest 4G network.  4G LTE devices range from tablets and mobile hotspots to the latest smartphones and more.  The newest 4G LTE devices include the DROID RAZR M by Motorola and the Samsung Galaxy S® III.  Details can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/4G LTE.  Information on plans and pricing for consumers and businesses is available at www.verizonwireless.com/plans.
