Southern Illinois To Benefit From Verizon Wireless Network Enhancement

HARRISBURG and McLEANSBORO, IL. — Verizon Wireless, the nation’s largest wireless provider, has activated two new cell sites in southern Illinois to provide additional 4G LTE network coverage and capacity: Harrisburg and McLeansboro.

The new cell sites will enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new site in Harrisburg will serve to significantly improve voice and data system capacity in the town while improving in-building reception quality, specifically in the southern part of town.  The site will also serve to improve highway coverage reception between the towns of Carrier Mills and Harrisburg along US Highway 45.

The new McLeansboro site will serve to provide improved voice and data services to the town and improve highway coverage, including SR 14, SR 142 and SR 242.
