BACKGROUND:
Two years after its launch, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network  offers more 4G LTE coverage than all other competitors’ networks combined, with coverage currently available to more than 250 million people throughout the United States. On Thursday, Dec. 20, the network will expand to offer 4G LTE service in 470 markets throughout the country.

“With speeds up to ten times faster than 3G, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network will soon offer customers in Bangor, and other nearby communities, tremendous opportunities to better connect and innovate,” commented Christine Berberich, New England President for Verizon Wireless.  “As New England’s wireless leader we continue to invest in and expand our 4G LTE coverage across Maine and look forward to bringing these Vacationland communities aboard Thursday.”

Since 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $3 billion into its New England network, including more than $297 million in 2011, to increase coverage and capacity on behalf of customers. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is the nation’s largest and was recently recognized in New England for ranking highest among all other national wireless providers in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study(SM), Volume 2.
