Now that spring has finally sprung, it’s time to grab the kids and get outdoors. Whether you are bird watching, gardening or just simply playing, your device or tablet can help you decide what to do and where to go.

For those wondering what birds are nesting nearby or what flowers are blooming, the Audubon Society has several resources to help. The Audubon Birds app provides descriptions about the appearance, habitat and behavior of more than 800 species in video, audio and print format. There are also Audubon Mobile Field Guides to identify, track and record spiders, insects, wildflowers, butterflies or trees.

When you are ready to head outside with the kids, download the Map of Play app. You can search for playgrounds in your neighborhood or while traveling. It is easy to share information and photos from a child’s favorite spot. There are also features that allow you to rate the playground and schedule play dates.

Use the Parks n Rec app to discover and explore more than 43,000 park locations across the country. Make selections based on park amenities including athletic fields, campgrounds and bike and walking trails, then upload pictures and comments, add amenities and view ratings during or after your visit.

For those who simply want to go out and make mud pies or pick the dandelions, be sure to have your smartphone ready to capture the moment so you can easily upload pictures and video to share the springtime fun.

What are you waiting for? Get out and start exploring today.
