To support relief efforts in Central Oklahoma, customers can now text-to-donate to the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
Verizon Wireless customers can donate $10 to the Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999 or to the Salvation Army by texting STORM to 80888. Those who would like to give more can donate up to $50 via text. Text messaging fees will be waived and 100 percent of each donation goes directly to the Red Cross and/or Salvation Army. Verizon Wireless customers who pay monthly bills will see their donations on the next regular monthly bill. For customers using the company’s prepaid services, donations will be taken from customers’ prepaid balances.
Verizon has committed $100,000 in grants to disaster relief in the area, and the Verizon Foundation will provide a 1-to-1 match of employee online donations (from $25 up to $1,000 per employee) to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
In addition to all 20 retail stores in Oklahoma that remain open to customers, Verizon Wireless is working quickly to deploy a number of disaster relief vehicles to impacted areas to support first responders and families. These support units are equipped with charging stations, emergency phones to use for calls and Internet access. Locations for these charging stations are:
- Red Cross Shelter located at 201 S Howard in Moore, OK
- Home Depot parking lot in Moore, OK – SW 19th and Telephone Road
- Shawnee High School – 1001 North Kennedy in Shawnee, OK
