Summer is almost here, and the season isn’t complete without a visit to at least one of the many national parks.

The National Park System includes more than 400 designated areas. The western United States is rich in parks with California and Alaska boasting the most at eight each, followed by Utah with five and Colorado with four. The first-ever national park, Yellowstone, was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872 after an act of Congress.
