Before you know it, it’ll be June and the 2014 FIFA World Cup will have started in Brazil. Here is a list of 11 people – from reporters to the manager of the U.S. Men’s National Team – to follow on Twitter if you want to get in the know about World Cup soccer and have a few laughs along the way.

Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl)

If you’re an American soccer fan, check out Grant Wahl’s Twitter feed. Wahl is a senior writer for Sports Illustrated. He’s well-traveled and well-educated from many years on the ground covering the game. Wahl is a source for news, insight and powerful feature stories.

Brian Phillips (@runofplay)

Phillips, a feature writer for Grantland.com, offers readers a unique, literate perspective of his subjects with a cutting wit that will make you laugh as much as it will educate you.

James Tyler (@JamesTylerESPN)

Tyler is an editor and writer with ESPNFC.com, ESPN’s soccer-specific news site. The site gives readers access to stats, fixtures and tables, but it is also covers many club teams and countries. Following him will help you learn more about the game and stoke your passion.

Mike Woitalla (@MikeWoitalla)

Woitalla and @socceramerica cover all levels of soccer, including youth and high school, college, Major League Soccer and successful national teams for both the men and women.

Jürgen Klinsmann (@J_Klinsmann)

German soccer legend Jürgen Klinsmann is now the manager of the United States Men’s National Team, and he has guided yet another USA World Cup opportunity. Follow along as the transplant to Los Angeles shares his thoughts leading up to the tournament.

Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney)

Delaney writes for ESPN, the Irish Examiner, the Independent and the popular long-form soccer magazine The Blizzard. While the boys in green of Ireland are absent from this year’s tournament, you can rest assured Delaney will be along for the ride.

Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague)

Balague is one of the top journalists covering Spain’s La Liga. Spain has taken their tika-taka football – the quick passing, quick movement possession game synonymous with Spanish stars like Andres Iniesta, Xavier “Xavi” Hernández Creus, Jordi Alba and David Silva – on a wild ride to win the 2008 European Championship, 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship. Can they do it again?

Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian)

England is always a fun team to follow at the World Cup, if for nothing other than the fact their players are as much celebrities as they are superstars. Any one of the writers from the Guardian would be an excellent follow on Twitter, but Taylor, as its chief football writer, is particularly active and insightful.

Ray Hudson (@RayHudson)

If you’re in America and watch soccer games on cable or satellite TV, you’re probably familiar with Ray Hudson. This silver-tongued announcer spins some extraordinary phrases born out of his love of the game. “Like smoke through a key hole,” “Magisterial,” and “Aaach! He’s like a Jedi,” are just some of the things you’ll hear from Hudson.

Alexi Lalas (@AlexiLalas)

Lalas was a star defender for the United States Men’s National Team for many years, and a part of the popular team when the USA hosted the tournament in 1994. He’s known for his flashy red hair and goatee. This year he will be a host and commentator throughout the tournament.

Alex Morgan (@AlexMorgan13)

Morgan, a striker for the United States Women’s National Team, is one of the best in the world and exciting to watch. She is a rising star and is sure to cheer her male counterparts on this summer in Brazil with the rest of us.
