The first Verizon Smart Store opened in Hawaii in November 2013. A grand-opening event at the Pacific Guardian Tower in Honolulu included a traditional Hawaiian blessing by Kahu (Reverend) Sherman Thompson of Kamehameha Schools, who blessed the store with the traditional sprinkling of fresh water from a koa bowl using ti leaves.
There were door prizes, lively music and entertainment from the on-site DJ booth and delicious local-style food. Guests were treated to a guided tour of each lifestyle zone by a Verizon Wireless store team member to explore new technology and innovative accessories. They were given cards to have stamped when visiting each of the store’s lifestyle zones for a chance to win a grand prize – a Verizon Wireless surfboard.
The introduction of the Smart Store is part of Verizon Wireless’ nationwide effort to take the wireless customer experience to the next level. The Verizon Destination Store at Mall of America® opened prior to the opening of the Hawaii Smart Store. The Verizon Destination Store and Smart Stores engage customers by allowing them to discover all that wireless technology can do for their mobile lifestyles.
“Having a Smart Store here in Hawaii allows our customers the opportunity to truly experience the mobile lifestyle,” said Eric Reed, Vice President - Hawaii. “As we enter this new era in customer service at Verizon Wireless, we look forward to helping our guests learn about and experience innovative wireless technology first-hand.”
The stores are organized in interactive lifestyle zones to provide demos of wireless devices, accessories and apps that fit different customer interests and needs. The lifestyle zones include Get Fit, Amplify It, Home and On the Go, Have Fun, Anywhere Business and Customize It.
