Smartphones and tablets are more powerful than ever, with processing power greater than the Apollo spacecraft computers that took men to the moon. In fact, NASA just sent three smartphones into orbit to use as low-cost satellites.

Even if you’re not planning to send your smartphone into space, it still needs battery chargers that are powerful enough to keep up with your smartphone activity. And your lifestyle is too mobile to have your device plugged into the wall at all times. Here are some of most talked-about portable life-giving accessories for your wireless device from this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

You can extend your smartphone’s battery life and digital storage space with the mophie space pack. It’s the world’s first rechargeable battery case with built-in storage. It packs in 16 GB or 32 GB of flash memory, as well as a 1,700 mAh battery pack made for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. You can also opt for the mophie juice pack powerstation, which contains a 4,000 mAh external battery that switches between 500 mAh, 1 amp or 2.1 amps, making it compatible with virtually any USB-charged device.

ZAGG, a mobile device accessories company, also introduced a new range of portable power products. Their most versatile is the GoFuel, a power plant with a 13,000 mAh battery, enough to recharge up to six smartphones or two tablets. Its dual USB charging ports deliver 1A and 2.1A output and can charge a phone and tablet at the same time; this accessory is not yet available.

Of all phone accessories at CES, a very non-traditional way of charging your phone stood out from the pack. The PowerAll has a rechargeable 12,000 mAh battery with two USB ports that can charge your phone roughly six times and jumpstart your car’s battery up to 20 times on a full charge. The PowerAll packs a powerful punch at only twice the weight of a smartphone.

Mother Earth’s very own light source is also in the battery-charging game. EnerPlex’s solar-powered batteries and the Panasonic Solar Charger are solutions for when sunlight is more plentiful than wall outlets. EnerPlex units fit iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones. The Panasonic Solar Charger charges a wide range of smartphones or two rechargeable AA batteries that can be used in other devices. It also doubles as an LED light.

With so many portable charging options, there’s no reason for your device’s battery to be low when an outlet is nowhere in sight.
