For more than 20 years, the color purple has symbolized the courage of domestic violence victims and survivors and the dedication to ending domestic abuse. In an effort to continue raising awareness of this issue and provide support to domestic violence prevention organizations across the country, Verizon has introduced a line of HopeLine-branded accessories in purple.
Now through the end of October – which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month – the accessories are available online and in Verizon Wireless retail stores. For every select purple accessory sold, Verizon will donate $3 to the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization whose mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Joyful Heart Foundation serves survivors through a portfolio of healing and wellness programs and also hosts education and awareness programs designed to advance the community’s response to survivors and reduce the stigma around these issues.
Those looking for additional ways to speak out against domestic violence can also submit messages of hope to victims and survivors through Verizon’s Because Voices Have Power campaign. Individuals can add their voice to the conversation by submitting a message of hope online at www.voiceshavepower.com, sending a text to 94079 or through social media using the hashtag #VoicesHavePower. For every message of hope submitted, Verizon will donate $3 toward supporting proven and innovative dating and domestic violence prevention programs produced by the company’s national and local campaign partners.
