As the title sponsor of the Verizon IndyCar series, we caught up with Pippa Mann to find out her favorite apps and gadgets to use. We also had the chance to ask her thoughts on how the sport has changed.

In May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it was really important to have the Indiegogo app on my phone. We were running a campaign to raise money around the pink Susan G. Komen racecar, and as the campaign manager, having the app on my phone helped me to monitor check contributions and respond to questions.

I also use the Under Armor Record app a lot. It helps me track my training, as well as share with other athletes and people what we actually do to be racecar drivers - people often say racecar drivers aren’t athletes. Being part of the Under Armor Record family enables me to use it a lot.

Honestly, I enjoy many apps because I’m so massively into social media. I love being on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I love being able to interact with my fans, so if I could combine those three into one, it would be my all-time favorite app!

On her favorite part of the INDYCAR 15 app…

My favorite part is that people can actually select their favorite drivers and monitor them throughout the races. I think that’s really cool.

On how she thinks social media has changed the sport for drivers and fans…

I think social media has really changed the sport in that it allows fans to have a much better glimpse of who we are and our personalities. We’re able to share images of what we’re doing with them and provide a more accurate depiction of what it’s actually like, really stripping away the myth.

On her five must-have apps…

Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, INDYCAR 15 and a photo editing app. I don’t know which one - I have too many to choose.

On her favorite tech gadgets…

I cannot live without my smartphone. I am attached to it at the hip, which is pretty ridiculous. I’m also a major bookworm, so my Kindle is really, really big for me. I love having my Kindle with me.

On what she is reading right now…

Latest Women’s Murder Club by James Patterson.
