RootMetrics, an independent mobile analytics firm, recently announced its National RootScore® Report. Verizon Wireless ranked as the highest in overall network performance for the U.S. Mountain Region, which includes the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming.

To compile these findings, RootMetrics drove and conducted tests over 15,400 miles and included 283 indoor locations to measure key performance indicators in these five states in the Mountain Region.

In Idaho, Verizon Wireless won overall and as well as in reliability, speed, data and call performance. Next door in Montana, Verizon captured the number one spot for overall performance along with reliability, speed, data, text, and call performance across Big Sky Country.

The Rocky Mountains echoed these RootMetrics state wins as Verizon won the overall award in Colorado. In Utah, Verizon celebrated the highest rankings for overall performance, reliability, speed, data and call performance. Lastly, Verizon significantly outpaced the other three national carriers in Wyoming  for overall performance and the two sub-categories of reliability, speed, along with data performance.

“Our teams are dedicated to providing a consistent network experience no matter where you are in the Mountain Region,” said Chris Lewter, Regional President of Verizon Wireless. “This latest report shows our dedication and promise to deliver the nation’s largest and most reliable 4G LTE network to customers across the Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming.”

While Verizon took the honors across the Mountain Region, we also outranked the competition with the most wins or ties in five state categories:

  • 47 states for Overall Performance (vs. 12 wins/ties for the nearest competitor)
  • 44 states for Network Reliability (vs. 15 wins/ties for the nearest competitor)
  • 44 states for Network Speed (vs. 7 wins/ties for the nearest competitor)
  • 46 states for Data Performance (vs. 6 wins/ties for the nearest competitor)
  • 45 states for Call Performance (vs. 19 wins/ties for the nearest competitor)

This marks the fourth consecutive time Verizon’s wireless network has been acknowledged as the leader in overall performance among national wireless service providers in the U.S.

Each RootScore® is calculated from a combination of tests that are weighted to reflect what consumers would experience. These scores were based on RootMetrics testing performed in the first half of 2015 (January - July) for the four major U.S. wireless providers in six network performance categories: Overall, Reliability, Speed, Data, Call and Text.
