Windows® Device Manager Conflicts - Verizon Wireless PC 5750

Start Device Manager.

  • Windows 7
    • Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager.
  • Windows Vista
    • Click Start > (Settings) Control Panel > (System and Maintenance) > Device Manager.
      Note If prompted, click Continue.
  • Windows 2000 / XP
    • Click Start > (Settings) Control Panel > (Performance and Maintenance) > System > Hardware > Device Manager.

The following devices are normally installed:

  • Modems:
    • Pantech PC Card
  • Ports (COM & LPT):
    • Pantech PC Card Diagnostic Serial Port (WDM) (COMx)
  • Universal Serial Bus controllers:
    • Pantech PC Card Composite Device
    • NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller
    • NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller

    Note If a red X, yellow ! or yellow ? is displayed to the left of a listed device, a conflict is present and the drivers must be updated or reinstalled.
    Note Driver conflicts may also be indicated by a device entry labeled Other Devices or Unknown.

If a conflict is present:

  1. Ensure that the device drivers are installed. Refer to Downloading and installing VZAccess Manager - Windows for additional assistance.
    Note If VZAccess Manager is installed and a driver conflict is still present, continue to step 2.
  2. Right-click the device then click Update Driver.
    Note If using Windows Vista, right-click the device then click Update Driver Software.
    Note The device name may vary from the example given but the process is the same.

  3. If presented, select No, not this time then click Next.

  4. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) then click Next.
    Note If using Windows Vista, click Browse my computer for driver software.

  5. If available, ensure that Search for the best driver in these locations and Include this location in the search are selected then enter C:\Program Files\Verizon Wireless\VZ Access Manager\Drivers\PC 5750 into the search window then click Next.
    Note The driver location can be entered manually or navigated to by clicking Browse.

  6. Click Finish.
    Note If using Windows Vista, click Close.
