Windows Device Manager conflicts - HTC Touch Pro™

Start Device Manager.

  • Windows 7
    • Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager.
  • Windows Vista
    • Click Start > (Settings) Control Panel > (System and Maintenance) > Device Manager.
      Note If prompted, click Continue.
  • Windows 2000 / XP
    • Click Start > (Settings) Control Panel > (Performance and Maintenance) > System > Hardware > Device Manager.

As a sync device
As a modem

 

 

Sync Device

Note In order to use the HTC Touch Pro¿ as a sync device, the Modem Link must be deactivated. Refer to Activating / deactivating the Modem Link for additional assistance.

The following devices are normally installed:

Mobile Devices
PocketPC USB Sync
Portable Devices
XV6850
Device Manager with sync device connected
Note If a red X, yellow ! or yellow ? is displayed to the left of a listed device, a conflict is present and the drivers must be updated or reinstalled.
Note Driver conflicts may also be indicated by a device entry labeled Other Devices or Unknown.

Modem

Note In order to use the HTC Touch Pro¿ for Mobile Broadband Connect (tethered mode), the Modem Link must be activated. Refer to Activating / deactivating the Modem Link for additional assistance.

The following devices are normally installed:

Modems
HTC USB Modem
Ports (COM & LPT)
HTC Diagnostic Interface (PID 0B03)(COMx)
Universal Serial Bus controllers
USB Composite Device

If a conflict is present:

  1. Ensure that the device drivers are installed. Refer to Downloading and installing VZAccess Manager for additional assistance.
    Note If VZAccess Manager is installed and a driver conflict is still present, continue to step 2.
  2. Right-click the device then click Update Driver Software.
    Note If using Windows 2000 / XP, right-click the device then click Update Driver.
    Note The device name may differ from the example shown.

  3. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
    Note If using Windows 2000 / XP, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) then click Next.

  4. Enter C:\Program Files\HTC\WMODEM_INSTALLER into the search window then click Next.
    Note If using Windows 2000 / XP, ensure that Search for the best driver in these locations and Include this location in the search are selected.
    Note The driver location can be entered manually or navigated to by clicking Browse.

  5. Click Close.
    Note If using Windows 2000 / XP, click Finish.
    Driver update complete
