Hard Reset - DROID ERIS by HTC

Warning Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings and downloaded applications. Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.

If the preferred method is not available, there is an Alternate Method.

Note When attempting to determine if a 3rd party application is the cause of an operating system / application issue on a device that does not support Automatic Restore, skip the Google Account setup during the initial setup of the device.

Preferred Method

  1. From the home screen, select the applications tab (located in the lower-left).

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select Privacy.

  4. Select Factory data reset.

  5. Select Reset phone.

  6. Select Erase everything.

  7. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

Firmware Version 2.1

  1. Power off the device by pressing and holding the End / Power key.

  2. Select Power off.
    Power off
  3. Select OK.
    Power off confirmation
  4. Press and hold the Volume down and Send keys then press the Power / End key.
    Note When the CLEAR STORAGE screen appears, release the keys.

  5. Press the trackball.

  6. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

Note If the following steps fail, utilize this additional method.

  1. Power off the device by pressing and holding the End / Power key.

  2. Select Power off.

  3. Select OK.
    Power off confirmation
  4. Press and hold the Volume down key then press the Power / End key.
    Note When the HBOOT screen appears, release the keys.

  5. Press the Volume key to select CLEAR STORAGE then press the Power / End key.
    Note If prompted with Do you want to start update?, press the Volume down key to choose No. When prompted, Do you want to reboot device? press the Volume down key to select No.
    Note This boot process takes several moments, reference the progress bar located in the upper-right. If the device hangs or freezes, remove / replace the battery, refer to Inserting / removing the battery for additional assistance.
    CLEAR STORAGE
  6. Press the Volume up key to select Yes.
    Delete all user data?
  7. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

 

 

Additional Method
