Set Up Wi-Fi Connection - Google Chromebook

Note To determine Chrome OS version, refer to View Software Version.

Chrome OS 19.x
Chrome OS 18.x

 

 

Chrome OS 19.x

Note Local area Wi-Fi network information is needed to complete several steps. Please refer to the network administrator for additional assistance.

  1. From a browser tab, click the wrench icon (located in the upper-right).
    Note To launch a browser tab, click New tab (located in the lower-left of the launcher screen).
  2. Click Settings.
  3. From the Internet connection section, click Wireless network.
    Note When disabled, Wi-Fi will be automatically enabled upon clicking the option.
    Note Repeat this step if the drop down menu does not display.
  4. Click the preferred network.
    Note If the preferred network is not displayed, refer to Join other for assistance.
  5. If presented, enter the appropriate information (e.g., Password, Identity, Certificate, etc.) then click Connect.

 

 

Join other

  1. Click Join other.
  2. Enter the appropriate information into the following fields then click Connect:
    Note For advanced settings, click Advanced (located in the lower-left).
    • SSID
    • Security
      • None
      • WEP
      • PSK (WPA or RSN)
    • Password

Chrome OS 18.x

Note Local area Wi-Fi network information is needed to complete several steps. Please refer to the network administrator for additional assistance.

  1. From a browser tab, click the wrench icon (located in the upper-right).
  2. Click Settings.
  3. From the left navigation pane, click Internet.
  4. Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled.
    Note Wi-Fi is enabled when the Disable Wi-Fi option is present (located in the General section).
  5. From the Wireless networks section, highlight a network then click Connect.
    Note If the preferred network is not displayed, refer to Other Wi-Fi network for assistance.
  6. If presented, enter the appropriate information (e.g., Password, Identity, Certificate, etc.) then click Connect.

 

 

Other Wi-Fi network

  1. From the Wireless networks section, click Other Wi-Fi network.
  2. Enter the appropriate information into the following fields then click Connect:
    • SSID
    • Security
      • None
      • WEP
      • PSK (WPA or RSN)
    • Password
