Transfer Music Files - Thunderbolt™ by HTC

This helps you move or transfer music between your device and a computer/PC. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

caution Only DRM free / unprotected music can be transferred via this method. DRM protected content (e.g. songs downloaded via iTunes (not all iTunes songs are protected), Rhapsody subscription, etc.) will not play on this device.

  1. Connect the device to the computer with the USB cable.
  2. From a home screen, swipe the window shade down.
  3. Select the ongoing USB ( USB symbol ) connection type (e.g., Charge only, Media sync).
  4. Select Disk drive then select Done.
    Selected when Green disc indicator is present.
  5. From File Explorer / Finder on the PC / Macintosh, create a new music folder in Removable Disk (X:).
    Removable Disk (X:) represents the SD Card installed in the device. This name may vary.
  6. Use the computer to copy music and other audio files into the newly created folder.
    For any accompanying artwork in JPEG format, rename the art file albumart.jpg and copy into the same folder as the music files.
  7. To further organize files, create a subfolder in the newly created music folder and copy desired music files into it.
  8. When the transfer is complete, swipe the window shade down from a home screen on the device.
  9. Select the ongoing USB ( USB symbol ) connection type (e.g., Charge only, Media sync).
  10. Select Charge only then select Done.
    Selected when Green disc indicator is present.
  11. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
