Hard Reset - Motorola XOOM (MZ600)

Caution Performing a hard reset removes all data including the GoogleTM account, system data, app data, app settings, and downloaded apps. Only perform a hard reset if absolutely necessary.

Note Notes:

  • Pictures, Videos and Music are also removed. It is recommended to backup this data.
  • Personal data such as Wi-Fi passwords, Browser bookmarks, User dictionary, a list of installed Google PlayTM apps and other customized settings can be backed up to and restored from Google servers.
  • Disable Automatic Restore prior to performing a hard (factory) reset when attempting to determine whether a third party app is the cause of an OS or app issue.

Preferred Method

  1. From a home screen, select Apps (located in the upper right).

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select Backup & reset.

  4. Select Factory data reset.

  5. Select Reset tablet.

  6. Select Erase everything.
    Note If necessary, refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

Alternate Method

  1. With the device powered off, press the Power button to power the device on.
  2. Wait a full two seconds from the time the tablet starts displaying the red Motorola logo then press and hold Volume down.
  3. When --> Android recovery appears (in the upper left), release Volume down then press Volume up.
  4. When the Android recovery screen (Android with exclamation point in a red triangle) appears, press and hold the Power button.
  5. While holding the Power button, press and release Volume up.
  6. Select wipe data/factory.
    Note Utilize the volume buttons to highlight and the power button to select.
  7. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
  8. Select reboot system now.
    Note If necessary, refer to Initial Activation and Setup.
