Hard Reset - Pantech Breakout™

A hard reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Warning Warnings:
  • Performing a hard reset removes all data including the Google account, system data, app data, app settings, and downloaded apps. Only perform a hard reset if absolutely necessary.
  • Pictures, Videos and Music are also removed. It's recommended to backup this data.
Note Notes:
  • Personal data such as Wi-Fi passwords, browser bookmarks, user dictionary, a list of installed Market apps and other customized settings can be backed up to and restored from Google's servers.
  • Disable Automatic Restore prior to performing a hard (factory) reset when attempting to determine whether a third-party app is the cause of an operating system / app issue.
  • If the preferred method is not available, there is an alternate method.

Preferred Method

  1. From the Home screen, select Apps.

  2. Select Settings.
    Note If necessary, scroll through the screens to find the selection.

  4. Select Factory data reset.

  5. Select Reset phone.

  6. Select Erase Everything.
    Note Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.

  7. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.




Alternate Method

  1. Ensure the device is powered down.
    Note If needed, remove and replace the battery. Refer to Inserting/removing the battery for additional assistance.
  2. Press and hold the volume down button and search key then press the power button.
    Note When the Android triage screen (triangle with a yellow exclamation sign) appears, release the keys.
  3. Press the menu key.
  4. Using the volume down button, scroll to 'wipe data/factory reset' then press the Home key to select it.
  5. Using the volume down button, scroll to 'Yes -- delete all user data' then press the Home key to select it.
    Note This boot process takes several moments, reference the progress bar located in the upper-right. If the device hangs or freezes, remove/replace the battery, refer to Inserting/removing the battery for additional assistance.
  6. If presented,
    1. Select reboot system now.
    2. Press the Home key to return to the Android OS.
  7. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.
