Transfer Music Files - DROID BIONIC by Motorola

This helps you move or transfer music between your device and a computer/PC or memory card. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

From the device to a computer

caution Only DRM free / unprotected music can be transferred via this method. DRM protected content (e.g. songs downloaded via iTunes, Rhapsody subscription, etc.) will not play on this device.

Note If using a Macintosh computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
    1. If necessary, select and hold the status bar (located at the top) then drag to the bottom.
    2. Select Connected as a camera / mass storage.
    3. Select Media device (MTP).
      Note Selected when a check mark is present.
  2. Launch Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows key logo+E) keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Open Windows Explore.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate: Droid Bionic > Internal Storage > Music.
    Note If an SD card is present, music files can be transfered to that location by navigating: Droid Bionic > SD card.
  4. Use the computer to copy music and other audio files into the folder.
    Note For any accompanying artwork in JPEG format, rename the art file albumart.jpg and copy into the same folder as the music files.
  5. To further organize files, create a subfolder in the newly created music folder and copy desired music files into it.




From device storage to a SD card

  1. From a home screen, select Apps ( Applications icon located at the bottom).
  2. From the All Apps tab, select Files.
  3. Select Device storage.
  4. Select Music.
  5. Select Menu ( Menu icon located at the bottom).
  6. Select Select items.
  7. Select the desired files(s).
    note Selected when highlighted.
  8. Select Copy Copy icon or Move Move icon (located at the bottom).
  9. Select the copied / selected item dropdown menu ( Drop down menu icon located at the top).
  10. Select SD card.
  11. Select the preferred folder then select Paste or Move (located at the top).
    note To create a folder:
    1. Select Menu ( Menu icon located at the bottom).
    2. Select Create new folder.
    3. Enter the desired folder name then select OK.
