Group Messaging - Apple® iPhone® 4S

Note Notes:

  • The Apple iPhone, by default sends messages addressed to multiple recipients as MMS messages. When a message is addressed to multiple recipients, the message is sent via MMS and iPhone header displays, 'New Group MMS'.
  • Group messaging is billed as an MMS message, not an SMS message.
  • To determine Device Software Version, refer to View Software Version.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Messages.
  3. Tap the Group Messaging switch to to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
    Note Group Messaging is turned on when the switch is in the green position.
    ENABLED / ON
    Multi-recipient text messages are converted to MMS messages. Recipients of these group messages with capable devices can see all of the message recipients and 'reply all'.
    DISABLED / OFF
    Multi-recipient text messages are sent as SMS messages. Message recipients cannot 'reply all' nor will they be able to see a list of the message recipients.
